“Billy Eckstine”

Al Stewart

During the 1940's Billy Eckstine had a big jazz band in which he played valve trombone and trumpet. He was also a terrific singer and had a unique style and sound. This photograph was taken in 1975, years after the Big Band era, during a solo singing-performance in New York. Oftentimes he accompanied himself on guitar.
