“Jackie Gleason”

Al Stewart

Jackie Gleason very much enjoyed being involved with music and produced many wonderful record albums. Quite popular among them was a series called "Music for Lovers Only," which featured the beautiful and sensitive trumpet playing of Bobby Hackett. I have played on a number of Jackie's records as well as many of his television shows. I took this photograph in 1959 while we were recording an album called "Jackie Gleason Plays the Most Beautiful Girl in the World," at Capitol Records on West 46th street in New York City. During a break in the session, Jackie straddled a chair, leaned back a bit, and with a cigarette between his lips, smiled in happy approval while listening to a playback of a take that we had just recorded.
