“The Shroud Series”

 

In 1980, award-winning photographer Larry Lytle began the Portrait of My Friends series, the third installment of which is entitled "A Portrait of My Friends, in Their Death Shroud, with Their Favorite/Most Important Possessions" (1995-1997). Readers will know Larry as the author of the multipart article on William Mortensen in the June and August 2001 issues of this publication, as well as his ongoing series of photography articles beginning in January 2002. He is also a commercial artist specializing in theatrical and video key art photography; he serves on the Advisory Board for the Museum of Neon Art in Los Angeles; and is on the faculty at Otis College of Art and Design, Los Angeles.
