On Dec. 26, 2004, almost 300,000 people in 11 countries were killed by a tsunami caused by a 9.0 earthquake off the coast of Indonesia. Thousands more are still missing and 1.5 million are homeless. If you seek information concerning names of victims and survivors, hospitals, relief organizations, and telephone hotlines, please visit SEA-EAT (South-East Asia Earthquake and Tsunami). These photos from a resort in Phuket, Thailand, are being used only to promote humanitarian aid. To see more dramatic images, visit Hellmut Issel's excellent photo gallery.
