LA’s Longest Running Art Fair Returns To The Santa Monica Civic Auditorium
During Golden Globes Weekend January 13-17, 2011

The 20th Annual International Los Angeles Photographic Art Exposition, photo l.a. 2011, returns January 13 - 17 to the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium. Over the past nineteen years photo l.a. has earned a reputation as one of the foremost art fairs and the leading photo-based event in the country. Presenting the finest galleries from around the globe, this 20th edition promises to be the best ever. The opening night reception on Thursday, January 13, from 6 to 9pm, will benefit the Wallis Annenberg Photography Department at LACMA and honorary hosts will be renowned American photographers William Eggleston and Stephen Shore.

Created by Stephen Cohen, producer of the highly acclaimed art fair artLA and photo NY, among others, photo l.a. 2011 will feature many of the world’s leading galleries and private dealers representing international, regional and U.S. artists. Exceptional programming, along with a new art & photography book fair, promises to create a dynamic experience for a growing patron base that includes over 11,000 collectors, curators and dealers of photography.

Highlights of the 20th Anniversary edition include a spectacular new 7,000-square-foot entry area for special installations, a balcony VIP lounge, a café and bookstore in the lobby, and a video lounge. Programming for photo l.a. XX includes an exclusive screening of controversial artist David Wojnarowicz's Smithsonian censored video, "A Fire in My Belly.” photo la is proud to present lectures, collecting seminars, and panel discussions with Stephen Shore, Uta Barth, Michael Light, Andrew Moore, Amy Arbus, and more.

photo l.a. will be open to the public Friday, January 14, through Sunday, January 16, from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., and Monday, January 17 from 11:00 to 6:00 p.m. Tickets are $20 for a one-day pass, $30 for a four-day pass and $10 for lectures.
